Two things I like here on Pixelsumo, Processing and musicians using Gameboys. So I was happy to see the new work from Robert Hodgin (aka flight404) - VJing live with Processing for Bit Shifter [photos and video].

Have a good read on this page and check out the videos. Plus you can download all the Processing source! Great stuff.

some very cool stuff! especially that powermate grid thing - awesome! although i had a quick look at those things and they cost £35 each which means entire thing would cost £2240 just for the powermates alone! still it was a good idea to use four as a VJ interface - although even then you might as well get one of those UC16 things instead?

I was at the show and it was definitely interesting. During his later fitc presentation (the Bridge event was connected to FITC), he mentioned that his employer received hundreds of these devices as partial payment for some project (hence why he had so many and wasn’t bankrupt). He also displayed the setup and various visualizations with it, the most interesting of which was, yup, PONG.
It used the Powermates to display the game, and used the powermates to control the paddles. Really cool shit.
