Bristol based artist Luke Jerram created a project last year entitled Sky Orchestra. Sky Orchestra are developing music specifically for sleeping people which is delivered out of the sky. Hot air balloons, each with speakers attached, take off at dawn to fly across a city. Each balloon plays a different element of the musical score creating a massive audio landscape.
The aim is to make us have nicer dreams and their research shows that dreaming occurs during the morning in periods of up to 40 minutes.
Download this video (9mb). During the performance flyers are delivered to homes along the flight path. You can read the responses here (pdf). Sky Orchestra are currently seeking funding to take this on a world tour.
