Jeppe Hein - Distance

Jeppe Hein

Jeppe Hein

I wanted to post info on this now in case any readers are in the area, as I won’t get chance to see it until for little a while.

Barbican Art Gallery, London
Feb 9th - 29th April, Free Entry

“Danish artist Jeppe Hein, known for his playful and interactive installations, is the latest contemporary artist to be commissioned to create a new work for The Curve. Responding to the distinctive architecture of gallery, Distance is an 800-metre steel structure that loops, twists and turns through the 80 metre sweep of The Curve. On entering the space visitors trigger a sensor which launches balls onto the metal tracks bringing this mechanical sculpture to life” - from the press release.

Created in 2004, Distance has been shown in various gallery spaces. Moore Space in Miami has some photos here.

If you are in Tokyo, there is an exhibition of his works at Scai The Bathhouse until 3rd March.

More information later.
